GTA 5 is one of Rockstar’s biggest successes, mainly because of its multiplayer feature, GTA Online.
As of July 5, 2023, the game returned to Xbox Game Pass. With this, many players wonder if they can enjoy the game with friends on different platforms.
Let’s take a look at whether GTA 5 supports cross-platform play.

Is GTA 5 Cross-Platform?
Currently, GTA 5 does not support cross-platform play. Players on Xbox cannot team up with those on PlayStation or PC.
Additionally, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users cannot play together either.
However, there is an exception for PC users. If you’re playing GTA 5 on Epic Games, you can join others using Steam or other PC platforms.
All PC servers are compatible with each other, so players can connect regardless of where they bought the game.

If you hope to play on the PC Game Pass, you’re out of luck. Microsoft has not added GTA 5 to their PC Game Pass list.
You must purchase the game from Steam or Epic Games Store to play with friends on PC.
Cross-Platform Play for Consoles
Here’s a quick breakdown of the cross-platform support for GTA 5:
Platform | Cross-Platform Play |
PS4 | No |
PS5 | No |
Xbox One | No |
Xbox Series X | No |
PC | No |
Nintendo Switch | No |
Will GTA 5 Ever Support Cross-Platform Play?
It seems unlikely that Rockstar will add cross-platform play for GTA Online. Despite the many updates the game has received over the years, no cross-play feature has been introduced.
Rockstar is likely focused on developing GTA 6, especially with the numerous leaks surrounding the upcoming title.
For now, players must stick to their platform when enjoying GTA 5 multiplayer.
